Fortnite Gets an Indian Makeover with SuperGaming’s ‘Indus’ Battle Royale!

Indus, the upcoming made-in-India battle royale from Pune-based developer SuperGaming, will soon be playable as part of Fortnite, Epic Games’ highly successful battle royale game.

During this integration, players can get a feel for Indus gameplay, maps, and weapons—all in Fortnite’s creator mode. This collaboration is expected to help Indu grab eyeballs before its release. And since Fortnite is also a battle royale, the game styles and gameplay are also parallel.

“This will allow us to test Indus gaming with outside audiences faster and allow more players to experience Indofuturism through their game of choice – Fortnite,” said Christelle D’cruz, founder of SuperGaming.

For the uninitiated, Indus is currently under development and features an “Indofuturistic” world. In ReturnByte’s conversation with Roby John, founder and CEO of SuperGaming, he revealed that the game is inspired by the Indus Valley Civilization – one of the oldest civilizations in the world.

The game’s world represents how India’s rich history and culture could be portrayed in the future. He compared the game to Black Panther’s Wakanda; where Wakanda takes its inspiration from Africa, yet is a futuristic representation of the same.

How was Indus Battle Royale integrated into Fortnite?

First, this entire experience is based on Epic Games’ Fortnite’s Unreal Editor, and was created by a two-woman team in just about 27 days. The release date for the same experience is expected to be announced shortly.

“At SuperGaming, we firmly believe that India’s culture and talent deserves the biggest possible stage for the world to see and play,” said Roby John. He added, “With Fortnite having an estimated 220 million monthly players worldwide, there’s no better way to bring indus and indofuturism to the world.”

Indus was announced to be released in closed beta during the Festival of India season in August, but no release date has been announced yet.
